Course Objective

Australia Awards Papua New Guinea will be delivering a STEM Professional Development
workshop in collaboration with Curtin University, Australia. The workshop is focused on
Design Thinking approach through a practical school-based innovation challenge. Further
apply design thinking to a broader system-level challenge reviewing Bronfenbrenner’s
Ecological System Theory-addressing fragmentation across Science, Technology,
Mathematics and Engineering education in PNG.

How is the Workshop Structured?

The 2-day workshop will include mini-lectures, large and small group discussions, group
and individual activities, and, simulations, and case studies, drawing on participants'
experience in their respective roles.

Who can attend the workshop?

  • Be a current (2026 - 2027) financial member of PNG Australia Alumni Association (PNGAAA)
  • Have a current profile on 360Alumni (updated in the last 3months)
  • Alumni working in academic institutions/schools in PNG.
  • Alumni teaching primary education with background in STEM field or interested in STEM education for primary level.
  • Alumni working in the development space supporting STEM programs
